\nHumility is powerful?Ashland, Oregon: Mark McCurties, practitioner of Christian Science healing and international speaker, will present his talk, \u201cHumility that \u2018overcomes the world,\u2019 \u201d on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 4:00pm, at the historic Ashland Springs Hotel in downtown Ashland.
\nThe talk will focus on universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible, especially in Christ Jesus\u2019 life and teachings, and show how they are available for anyone to understand and experience through the lens of Christian Science. The talk is free, open to the community, and sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Ashland, Oregon.
\n\u201cA central theme of Christ Jesus\u2019 ministry was to teach and show that the power of God\u2019s love can help us overcome the various injustices in the world,\u201d McCurties says. \u201cYet, for all the remarkable healing work that Jesus did, he always gave the credit to God. Examining Jesus\u2019 example, we will define true humility, how it links us to God, and with God\u2019s healing laws. There is great need for healing in the world today; living with more Christ-like humility can help us to meet that demand.\u201d
\nSharing examples of healing from his own life and professional practice of Christian Science, McCurties will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, meaning that people can prove its effectiveness for themselves. The practice is fully described in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy.
\nMcCurties will also touch on the life of Mary Baker Eddy, who came to understand, confirm, and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was especially inspired by Jesus\u2019 demand, \u201cHe that believes on me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go unto my Father\u201d (from the Gospel of John 14:12 in the Bible).
\nFor over 150 years, people around the world have worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today, experiencing healings of physical ills and personal difficulties.
\nMark McCurties has been a Christian Science practitioner for many years, daily helping people through this scientific approach to prayer. He travels from his home base in Michigan, to speak to audiences around the world as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

\nAs a U.S. Army chaplain from 1976-2004, Janet was the first woman assigned as a Division or Corps Chaplain and the first woman promoted to Colonel in the Army Chaplain Corps. She was at the Pentagon during the 9/11 attack, and subsequently advised the Department of Defense and other Inter-Agencies on Muslim issues and the terrorist mindset. Currently, Janet serves as the Christian Science endorser and trainer for The Mother Church for all military chaplains and trainees at Boston University School of Theology.
